LOWER GENITAL TRACT INFECTIONS
RATIONALE
Almost every woman suffers from a genital tract
infectionan infection of the cervix, vagina, or vulvaat least once in her
life. These infections produce distressing symptoms and may have a negative
impact on the womans quality of life. Some of these infections may spread to
the upper genital tract, causing PID.
GOAL
Understand the normal vaginal flora, defensive
mechanisms of the female genital tract, causative organisms, clinical picture,
diagnosis, and treatment of lower genital tract infection
