UTERINE FIBROIDS
RATIONALE
Leiomyomas are the most common benign tumor found in
women, as they affect 25 percent of women in the reproductive age group.
Although a majority of leiomyomas are discovered in symptom-free women at
routine examination, significant symptoms may occur, including pelvic pain,
hypermenorrhea, infertility, and habitual abortion. Accordingly, the knowledge
and skills of graduates should be updated to accommodate recent data about
fibroids.
