Curriculum of Gynecology
TOPIC 81
CANCER OF THE BODY OF THE UTERUS
RATIONALE
Endometrial carcinoma is the most common malignancy
of the female genital tract. Recently, certain factors have led to an
increasing awareness of and emphasis on diagnosis and management of
endometrial cancer. These factors include the declining incidence of cervical
cancer, prolonged life expectancy, and postmenopausal use of HRT. Thus,
understanding premalignant lesions and clear and correct application of
diagnostic tools can lead to an increase in the diagnosis of endometrial
cancer.
