CHORIOCARCINOMA

 

RATIONALE

 

Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) includes a spectrum of interrelated tumors, including complete and partial mole, placental site trophoblastic tumor, and choriocarcinoma. GTD is among the rare human tumors that can be cured even in the presence of widespread dissemination. Advances in the pathogenesis, natural history, and treatment of GTD and current approach to management have to be understood.

 

GOALS

 

l        Recognize the classification and the pathology of GTD

l        Understand the prognostic factors and the diagnostic work-up of choriocarcinoma

l        Recognize the protocols of both the treatment and followup of choriocarcinoma

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
