CONTRACEPTION
RATIONALE
Family
planning is an essential part of delivering comprehensive womens health care
during the life cycle. Medical students should not only be knowledgeable about
the current methods and efficacy of contraception, they should also have the
skills (e.g., IUD insertion, non-scalpel vasectomy, bilateral tubal ligation)
for providing these method, and good counseling and communication skills to
address this issue consistently with all women of child-bearing age. This will
help improve the quality of FP/RH provided in the Egyptian National Family
Planning Program.

Recognize essential practices and necessary

Ensure technical sustainability of the Egyptian

pills (COP), progestin only pills (POP), injectables, and Norplant®
